- Thank you for joining us on our renovation adventure! In the summer of 2023 we moved into a dilapidated farmhouse in a tiny village in the northwest of Italy. The last inhabitants left 10 years ago, but large parts of the property have been empty for over 20 years.
This week we're finally insulating our garage doors (after dilivery delays), exploring the area, continuing our long-term-temporary bathroom make-over, and starting with the preparations for moving our kitchen into the old farm-house.

Absolutely love the lamp restoration, my biggest weakness. Chandeliers and old electric items that can still be used. Great to see someone else doing what I think is really interesting, most people just throw them out.❤

the charcoal pastry was funny :) I take activated charcoal sometimes away from food to soak up toxins, etc. But never had it IN food before!

Sadly asian stink bugs are a little bit of a plague here. For us they are just annoying, but for the hazelnut farmers around us they are a real pain as they damage the crops.

Yes, he cleaned out the two that needed it but now they are good to go!

Maybe painting the Styrofoam insulation with a few coats af a white paint created for sealing that type of material, will help make it easier to wipe it down if needed?
we did consider that but then figured we can still paint it when it starts to look a bit grubby 😅 first we want to crack on with a few other projects!

50/50 white vinegar and water, then rinse with clean water.
Wonderful restoration of those lamps! How did you do that? Was vinegar used? or some other agent to get the paint of? I love the care of attention you have!
we boiled the brass for about 15 minutes in 50/50 water/vinegar. the paint was lime based paint so came off easily with the vinegar.
The light fitting looked beautiful after it was cleaned. What was the solution that you used in the pan?

you're welcome! we have used the same solution for our brass kitchen door knobs and it has worked well both times.
I agree, my grandmother was a dress maker and she left me some really beautiful pieces of lace and fabrics. Also her antique form and full length mirror. Iv
I've also collected more, like antique sewing machines and tools of the trade. Love it.❤

it's intended for lighter digestion. there are also restaurants here where you can eat pizza with an activated charcoal crust. :-)
